Marigolds

I planted the seeds, watched the marigolds grow and then I harvested them.

Put the marigolds (flower with a little bit of stem only) in a pot with water and bring to boil. Then let to simmer for an hour. I left the flowers in the water overnight.

The day after, I took the flowers from the water (with a sieve) and put the dyebath back in the stove to heat. I added the fabric: cotton (pre-mordanted with tannin+alum, other pieces with alum acetate and others with tanning +alum acetate) and silk (pre-mordanted with alum). Bring to boil and keep simmering (under boiling temperature) for an hour.

I took the fabric from the pot and rinsed.

I overdyed with the used marigold bath other pieces of fabric that were dyed with avocado pits - I got a very pale rose color with these pits.

Modified with ferrous sulfate: left marigold+iron, right avocado+ iron
