Open Pedagogy

The novelty of our project is that the textbook is authored by students under faculty supervision.

Open pedagogy is the practice of engaging with students as creators and part of the teaching process.

With Open Pedagogy as a guiding praxis, we created an independent study class Writing in the sciences that focuses on engaging with students as creators of information. Students demonstrate understanding through the act of creation and collaboration. The output is this student created OER textbook that will impact future generations of students.
